Baccarat odds: Banker, Player and Tie
Baccarat has no player decisions. Both hands follow fixed drawing rules, so every outcome has a fixed probability. With eight decks the Banker hand wins 45.86% of coups, the Player hand wins 44.62% and 9.52% end in a tie.
Banker wins more often because the Banker draws last and its drawing rule depends on the Player's third card. That is why casinos take a 5% commission on Banker wins.
- Banker bet: RTP = 0.4586 × 1.95 + 0.0952 (push) = 98.94%, house edge 1.06%
- Player bet: RTP = 0.4462 × 2 + 0.0952 (push) = 98.76%, house edge 1.24%
- Tie bet at 8:1: RTP = 0.0952 × 9 = 85.64%, house edge 14.36%
Third-card rules used in the simulator
Card values: ace is 1, 2–9 face value, tens and face cards 0. Only the last digit of the total counts, so 7 + 8 = 5. If either hand has 8 or 9 on two cards (a natural), both stand.
Otherwise the Player draws on 0–5 and stands on 6 or 7. If the Player stood, the Banker draws on 0–5. If the Player drew, the Banker draws on 0–2; on 3 unless the Player's third card was an 8; on 4 against 2–7; on 5 against 4–7; on 6 against 6 or 7; and always stands on 7.
Reading a bead road
The bead road records every coup in order, top to bottom and then left to right. Casinos show it because players look for streaks, but each coup is close to independent: removing a few cards from an eight-deck shoe moves the odds by hundredths of a percent. Run 1,000 deals and the grid fills with long streaks that predict nothing.
The best baccarat bet
Bet Banker. It has the lowest edge on the table. Player is a close second. Avoid the Tie bet at 8:1 and most side bets, whose edges run from 5% to over 10%. Some crypto tables pay Tie at 9:1, which cuts its edge to 4.84%, still worse than Banker. Rakeback on top of a 1.06% edge brings baccarat close to break-even.
How to use the simulator
Enter a stake on any mix of Banker, Player and Tie, then deal one coup or a thousand. The theoretical RTP tile updates to the weighted return of your current bets, so a Banker-only bet shows 98.94% while adding a Tie bet drags it down. The bars compare the observed share of each outcome with the eight-deck figures.
FAQ
Baccarat Simulator questions
Is it better to bet Banker or Player in baccarat?
Banker. It wins 45.86% of the time and has a 1.06% house edge after the 5% commission. Player has a 1.24% edge.
What are the odds of a tie in baccarat?
About 9.52% with eight decks. At 8:1 the Tie bet returns 85.64%, a 14.36% house edge.
Do baccarat patterns or roads predict the next hand?
No. Coups are close to independent, and bead road or big road streaks are normal randomness. They do not change the odds of the next deal.
Why does the Banker bet pay a 5% commission?
Because the Banker hand wins more often than the Player hand. Without commission the Banker bet would have a player edge of about 1.2%.
Is online baccarat rigged?
Licensed live and provably fair baccarat deal from randomly shuffled shoes. The house profit comes from the commission and the 8:1 Tie payout, which you can verify by running thousands of deals here.
